I have friends who have given up on missions, as they just aren’t being made ready for a situation that they don’t believe God is calling them to. My heart breaks for these people. Even if the missionary experience is not for you, don’t run from it. God has a purpose for you in all these situations. Don’t have a “thoughts” understanding of what God is doing. One day, my dad was watching a video on missionary work and he shared with me the meaning of the verse, “You shall not pass”. He said, that in the Old Testament and New Testament, God made some pretty firm and not-so-firm rules. If you got a tattoo, you had to remove it. When you stole or lied, you had to turn yourself in. If you got married, you had to divorce. And if you got a kid, you had to raise that kid in a Christian home. He said that this just shows the standard of a God who loves us and will keep us. They are not there to just get away with stuff. They were there to do what God is doing. In the same vein, think about the verse, “You Shall Not Pass.” God does not allow us to go through without someone accompanying us. I believe it speaks to a God who loves us and has a mission for us.
